Ostirol: Cross-country skiing in the Dolomites in Lienz

210 km cross-country tracks in Ostirol

Welcome to your cross-country holidays in Ostirol!
Osttirol is popular amongst cross-country skiers due to the genuine landscape. The area offers 140 km of tracks with border-crossing cross-country fun. The International Track leads from the South Tyrolean border 50 km to Lienz. Small but fine, this is the best way to describe the 10 km long track in Villgratental. The genuine landscape of the valley with its traditional farms is especially characteristic for this route. One of the most beautiful tracks in the Alpine region is the Grenzlandloipe track in the Tyrolean Gailtal and Lesachtal Valleys. Between the villages Kartitsch, Obertilliach, Untertilliach and Maria Luggau more than 60 km of perfectly groomed tracks await cross-country skiers. Due to the altitude of between 1,200 and 1,500 metres, this track is one of the snow-safest in the whole of Tyrol.

Free ski shuttle: Ski shuttles operate between the tracks in the Puster Valley, Villgratental and the Tyrolean Gailtal/Lesachtal. Holders of a valid track ticket can use the ski bus free of charge too (no regular bus and no train).

The World Cup approved cross-country and biathlon centre in Obertilliach
Highlight in East Tyrol is the world cup approved cross-country and biathlon centre Obertilliach. Here, training is not only possible in winter, but also in summer: cross-country professionals and amateurs take advantage of the ski roller track for their summer training.
